For specialty roasters

Discover the blind truth about your coffee.

Everyday coffee drinkers taste your coffee blind — beyond your cupping table. You see the gap between your cupping (gold) and what actually lands with the guest (orange) — aggregated and anonymous. And the rest of the platform runs your roastery: orders, inventory, team, roast log.

What costs you time, money and nerves today

Orders everywhere — just not in a system

Wholesale orders come in by WhatsApp, email and phone call. One forgotten order costs more than any software.

Solution Coffee Lab bundles all B2B orders — with roast-plan integration and recurring deliveries.

Time tracking is mandatory — not optional

You have to document working hours systematically. Violations of the German Documentation Act (NachwG) cost up to €2,000 per case — and paper timesheets don't survive an audit.

Solution GoBD-auditable time tracking for roasteries, with DATEV export.

The EUDR clock is ticking

Large and medium enterprises must apply the EU Deforestation Regulation from 30 December 2026, with small ones following on 30 June 2027. Without a seamless trail from the green-coffee lot to the bag, every proof turns into a treasure hunt.

Solution In Coffee Lab you document every batch effortlessly — traceability from the green-coffee lot to the bag that helps you prepare for the EUDR proof obligations. More in the EUDR guide →

Everything connected

A real platform for your roastery

Orders, inventory, team, production, sales — in Coffee Lab everything connects. One interface, clear and traceable, built so your team quickly finds its way in.

End the order chaos

Capture B2B orders from WhatsApp, email and phone in one place. Coffee Lab suggests a roast date to match the delivery date, you set up recurring deliveries once — and you keep the overview before anything slips through.

Your team, cleanly planned

Staff planning plus GoBD-ready time tracking for roasteries: shifts by availability and skill, your team plans leave and swaps itself — logged with a change history, with DATEV export for payroll.

Transparency down to the bag

Check incoming goods, release batches — and the QR code on the bag leads to the batch's public product passport. Traceability from the green-coffee lot to the bag — the data foundation for upcoming EUDR reporting obligations.

An end to inventory chaos

Scan QR codes and keep an eye on your stock across every location — locate, transfer and receive goods in seconds.

Every roast traceable

Weekly plan, roast log with Artisan import, roast profiles and recipes — your roasts cleanly documented.

Know what sells

Sales analytics show which coffees perform, how fast they sell and what your regulars keep ordering.

Ahead of it, not panicking

Coffee Lab learns your consumption, works out how long your stock will last, and warns you in good time before anything runs out.

Quality that isn't stuck in someone's head

SOPs and handover notes lay the groundwork for consistent processes and fast onboarding. Everyone on the team quickly finds what they need right now.

Certificates in view

Record who can do what, store certificates — and Coffee Lab reminds you before one expires.

The day at a glance

Everyone on the team starts with exactly the info that matters today — clear, tidy, no hunting around.

Some modules belong to larger plans — together we find what fits your roastery.

The idea

Tasted blind. Measured honestly.

People taste your coffee blind — no name, origin, roast level or price. They rate acidity, body, sweetness, aroma and aftertaste. We objectify the subjective: aggregated and anonymous, per coffee and per roast. So you can see how a change to your roast profile really affects the taste — in your own cuppings just as much as in the community's perception.

No names, no email addresses, no individual ratings. Only aggregated sensory data.

You make the coffee. We make the data.

How it works

Honest feedback in three steps

  1. 01

    Define your sensory target

Add your coffees and define your professional sensory profile as the target. Optionally: brew recommendations.

  2. 02

    Have it tasted blind

The community tastes blind — via the Tasting Box or live on-site in Event Mode.

  3. 03

    Insights, not guesswork

You see the aggregated perception per coffee and per batch — compared to your cupping.

Anonymity through aggregation: results only appear once at least five responses are in, to protect your guests' privacy.

Works from day one

Make your tasting measurable — Live Event Mode

Host a blind tasting on-site. Guests scan a QR code, rate on their own phone — no app, no account — and see the results in real time. You don't need a big community: you bring the guests.

  • No app download
  • Live dashboard
  • CSV export

Trust

Privacy is the foundation of honest results.

Trust is the most important ingredient for objective sensory data. That's why Coffee Lab is built from the ground up so guests stay anonymous — and you as a roaster only see what counts: the aggregated perception of your coffee. Hosted in Germany, designed for GDPR conformity.

  • Hosted in Germany
  • Only aggregated data for roasters
  • GoBD-auditable audit trail
  • DATEV export

Private for the guest. Precise for you.

Who's behind it

Hi, I'm Max

Coffee Lab started small — as my own tool to keep track of coffees: which bag, which recipe, which water, and how it really tasted. Then came the thought that changed everything: what if tasters could tell their roaster directly how the coffee lands — and the roaster benefited from exactly that?

Together with a partner roastery, it grew step by step into much more: from rating individual roast batches, to tracking green coffee all the way to the sold bag, to staff scheduling. One tool for the whole roastery day — comprehensive, yet still tidy and good-looking.

Away from Coffee Lab, I love sport, trying new coffees and sharing the fascination of coffee with others. Coffee Lab is still early, built in Germany — and I'm looking for a few pilot roasteries to build it with me.

Who's behind the platform

Honest answers

Common questions

What data do I see as a roaster?

Only aggregated, anonymized sensory data: averages and distributions for acidity, body, sweetness, aroma and aftertaste — per coffee and per batch. No names, no individual ratings.

Is the user data anonymous?

Yes. Aggregated values only appear from five different people on, and anyone who wishes can exclude their data (GDPR Art. 21).

What does it cost?

Nothing during the pilot phase. We're currently working closely with selected roasteries and finding a fair model together.

How mature is Coffee Lab?

Honestly: Coffee Lab is young. The core runs reliably in day-to-day roastery work — time tracking, inventory, orders, roast logs. We are still building out some analytics and integrations. As a pilot roastery you have a direct line to me and help decide what comes next.

Do I have to use everything at once?

No. Start with what helps you most — just the community feedback, or your whole operation. It all connects, but you set the pace.

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. If you can cup, you can use Coffee Lab. We help personally at the start.

Let's talk

Not a sales pitch — an honest conversation. In this phase we're deliberately taking on only a few pilot roasteries who want to help shape it.
